Fantastic weekend! I can't stop arm-flailing.
Had the first LTAB bout on Friday, in which we came in third place out of third. Some people were mad, but I wasn't because the teams we lost to were extremely talented. Then, myself, Ni and another friend had this awesome sleepover shindig at Mo's house. It was cracktastic. We acted out songs, watched Sweeney Todd, went to the Women's Open Mic and then wrote a song (it's a bit of a WIP). When we went out to the open mic Saturday, we all put on our British accents and talked like that the whole night (and then some the next day).
First, we met some creeper in Starbuck's, in which we all had a nervy b and ran like hell into the Jewel's a builing down the road. Then me and Ni decided to be arses and confuse the everliving shit out of a guy working in the produce section. I walked up and said, "'lo, mate. D'ya sell jaffacakes 'ere?"
It took me spelling out "jaffa" and making unnecessary hand gestures for him to even remotely understand. Then he sent me off to the donut stand. >.< Effink sod. Then we met this half-of-a-creep creeper on the subway, and we totally fooled him into believing we were from England. So of course, after we get off the train, on the bus and off the bus, me and Ni yell, "Ohmygod, that was freakin
hilarious!"
We are such tards.
Sunday, second bout, which was not so fun. Judges were on some serious bullshit. No one got high scores, especially the poems that
deserved it. One judge gave someone a 6.5. D:<
You don't
do that. No one's poem is
that shitty, that you give them a 6.5. Because anything lower than a 7 is mortifyingly esteem-damaging. We came in second out of fourth.
But, that's not the important thing.
The important thing is the nevershoutnever! concert me and Mo went to with
4evrendvrsayshi . There was a solo singer, Carter Wilson, then The Bigger Lights, The Honorary Title, The Scene Aesthetic and then nevershoutnever!
At one point (I'm pretty sure it was the Bigger Lights) a girl passed out. Sure, the concert was mellow - definately not moshing material - but it was hot. Like... fucking sweltering. So the girl passes out. But then the assholes in the crowd start pushing and shoving and trying to trample over this chick to get closer to the stage. It was irksome. Her friends kept yelling, "Get the
fuck back!" and no one was listening.
Then, enter Jude, stage right.
So, this guy (who later introduces himself as Jude, and then is later introduced as the live guitarist of nevershoutnever!) comes on stage and is like, "Are you
serious? It's a
show. This girl passed out and is in need of medical attention, and you're
shoving around? It's not like you're not gonna see the bands play. The show isn't cancelled. Relax. Move out of the way."
He got
so many point for that in my book <3<3<3<3<3
After that, things went okay. They kept spraying us with water (Mo and
4evrendvrsayshi kept shrieking and ducking). Nevershoutnever! came on and they were really good. Well, I mean, Chris is a tard and his acoustic didn't work for like 20 minutes, then he adopted the crowd and we were all friends and we got to say "ass" multiple times for no reason at all. And he told us to act like we were high off our asses because he felt loopy (and his guitar was outta tune, to which he giggled). And he said "I love you guys
so much" repeatedly.
And then,
him.
The live bassist of nevershoutnever!
Guh, he is so fucking adorable and he can totally father the children I'll never have, ohmyjish. <3<3<3<3<3<3<3
